It's a bird...It's a plane...

NO...It's an Octopus!
Isn't he the best looking Octopus you've ever seen? Not even an hour after we arrived at the party, he was exhausted. It must be tough being so dang cute. I tried having a little photo shoot in these big white rockers that I saw on some random porch, but he was too relaxed. He just slumped right over and stared off into space. But I still think I got a killer picture here(minus the red eye).

I could seriously just eat him up. Look at those eyes!
And he's down for the count! When he fell asleep, he fell hard. He would not even budge. I guess that's what happens when he only sleeps for an hour during the day.

I am so glad I captured that smile on Dan's face. He is such a party pooper and says he HATES Halloween, but may this photo remind him otherwise.

New Hobby

Sometimes while cleaning up around the house I enjoy turning up the tunes and jamming out if you will. Only one problem with that..if the last song I hear is a good one, it gets stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

So after I finished picking up I went to play with Camden. He was smiling and laughing, he was having a blast until...(dun dun dun) that dang song I heard on the radio last, got in my head and I started singing it!
Our fun little play session quickly turned to pots. The minute I started singing I see this face!
No sooner the face turned to this... Oh no I thought, maybe I should sing louder he must not be able to hear sweet mama singing to him!
Oh shiz, he hates my singing! It must be bad if it makes a baby cry when he hears it:( Don't worry son, Mom will take up a new hobby!

Creepy

Alright! So I got the hook up to this crazy little device from Dan's good pal(we will refer to him as Tyson). It's called a bodybugg, and basically I wear this funky thing around my arm and it tracks how many calories I burn. Tyson sets me up on a program of how many calories I should be burning as well as eating. He can access this site and the two of us can discuss what I need to be doing differently or what I'm doing well. The program he set me up on is linked to my bugg and I access the site to enter all my food for the day.

So once I input my food, this program tells me how many calories I have eaten. The charts below are similar to what I see. Obviously this chart isn't mine or I wouldn't be losing weight, but you get the point.

I'm not gonna bore you with the details...but I can say this...I love this thing. It has helped me realize that all the hard work I am putting into losing weight is making a difference. If you wanna know more about the Bodybugg you can check it out here. Or I can refer you to Dan's pal. I swear this post wasn't supposed to be a plug for this thing, but it quickly turned into one.

The point of this long drawn out post was to tell you that I was laying in bed while Dan was talking to Tyson on the phone and Tyson asked, "Wow, what were you doing at 9 o'clock this morning?". For a minute I felt a little violated. It never really crossed my mind that he could pin point one time during the day and see what I was up too. It just kinda freaked me out that he was looking at my graphs and could see that I was burning calories and my heart rate totally spiked. If anything, this creepiness helps me not want to be lazy or he can see that too!

So as I sit here and blog I am trying to do so fast in order to burn more calories so creepy Tyson can't say, "Wow, what weren't you doing at 4:30 this afternoon".

You Crazy Dog

This past weekend Wayne was in town for business and we got to spend some time with him.
Of course he came bearing gifts for Camden...this hat is one of them! Now all we need is for the weather to cooperate and get a little cooler so he doesn't sweat to death when he wears it. After a long hard day of golfing, the boys took me out for some steak. MMMM...good times!

Nothing Better Than A Bath

Just a little background here...Upon getting married to my hot husband I inherited a dog, that Dog's name is Chewie!

Alright on to the story...One thing I have never liked about dogs is the fact that they stink. Oh, and another thing; I always feel like I need to wash my hands because I was around one, even if I didn't touch it. Oh and....just kidding, I'll stop there!

So to make this boring story shorter...I have this thing about Chewie getting a bath at least once a month to help cut back on the stink problem as mentioned earlier. This once a month rule was a bit easier when I was working full time and didn't have a child to spend my money on. Now that I don't work very often, and spend 150 bucks a month on formula for that child, I don't wanna give up my money on a dog's bath! And I of course don't bathe the dog, that's "Dan's job". Seeing how Dan works a boat load of hours and doesn't get a ton of free time, it's a bit hard to meet this once a month bath rule. But tonight it happened...(dun, dun, dun)
Oh and did I mention Chewie has more hair than any other dog I've ever seen!!! Just to give you an idea, we put a DVD(and Dan's foot) next to the pile of hair that was brushed from Chewie during her bath. Sick huh? DISCLAIMER: Please don't be afraid to come to my house for fear it is filthy because you've seen these pictures. I try REALLY hard to keep my house looking like a pet free environment. I swear I am constantly dusting and vacuuming! Bathing this dog is no small task. Her big fluffy coat has to be blown dry in order to keep it looking presentable. Can you see why when the money was readily available I was willing to pay the groomer to do this tedious task?
And here is the final product. Ahhh...nice and clean, I will sleep better tonight knowing she is a little cleaner!
Good job Dan! I love you ten times more than I did yesterday because you did this!!!

Too Hot

You are never gonna believe this...it was 94 degrees today! Camden and I were sweating to death in our house so we decided to head over to the YMCA for a little dip in the pool. We stayed about an hour and had a blast. Cam was laughing hysterically when I would sit him on the edge of the pool(out of the water) and say, "On your mark, get set, go" then quickly put him in the water(as if he was jumping in). He was having such a good time that one of the men swimming laps stopped and came over to see what was going on. They both thought it was pretty funny!!!
All that laughing must have wiped him out! After the quick five minute drive home this is what I saw.
Isn't he so sweet when he's asleep?

The Sun Is Always Shinning When You're Cool

I was feeling a little couped up today while Camden was down for a nap. So as soon as he woke up we put on our shades and headed out on the town. Can you believe it was 92 degrees outside today? That is just plain weird! We have lived here for over two years and it is still hard for me to get used to "summer weather" in late October.

We went and walked around the new shopping center by our house. When we got home I took Camden's glasses off and he was looking all around like "Mom, why did you do that?". He loves to wear those things, it is pretty darn cute!

As you can see in this picture he is pointing to his left, what you can't see is the cute girls he is pointing at. He was totally saying, "Check out those hotties, they want me". And they did. Who wouldn't, I mean look at the kid!

Mixin' it up

Tiffani and I have been going to the gym together for the last little while. Trying to keep ourselves motivated we thought we would mix things up a bit and take a stab at the water aerobics class they offer. If you were to stumble in on that class this morning this is what you would have seen...
We were dying! Here are a few of the things that were heard before we ditched the class to go swim laps:

-"Oh good, two young girls are here today"
-"We must, we must, we must increase our bust(while exercising our arms), do you guys still say that at sleepovers?"
-"Watch out for the shinny black stuff(meaning the tiles in the pool), it is really slippery"
-"If you can, pull your arm across your chest slowly"(as if you were trying stretch)

Oh and the music...there were a few old ladies bobbing their head to the beat and singing along...too much for me when trying to work out!

This may not be very funny to the rest of you, but we were busting up. I wish we would've secretly filmed this for everyone to see. I know the young life guard had to have been busting up inside when she saw us show up to exercise with our grandmas. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE old people more than anything...but I try not to work out with them when trying to loose weight or get toned! Good times.

Telogen Effluvium

Already alright I am losing my hair! During the past week or so I have been having a massive amount of hair loss! It has become rather ridiculous. Everywhere I go I leave a huge chunk of my hair. So I, along with my handy dandy friend "Google", have given myself the diagnosis of Telogen Effluvium.

"Telogen effluvium is a form of nonscarring alopecia characterized by diffuse hair shedding, often with an acute onset. Telogen effluvium is a reactive process caused by a metabolic or hormonal stress or by medications. Generally, recovery is spontaneous and occurs within 6 months."

So in other words...having children is a beotch, my next post will probably be pictures of my gray hairs that are already growing. But never fear, this disease I have will hopefully make a spontaneous recovery within 6 months. The doctor is in! If anybody else is suffering from any sort of weird problems and looking for a diagnosis, let me know...I have a PHD in google-ology!

Rice Cereal Time

Tonight was the night! The first time Camden tried Rice Cereal! How Monumental?!?!
I love Dan's face in this one, he is totally closing his mouth(not knowing) because that is what Camden should be doing at the very moment. Ya know, when you are feeding someone else you open your mouth in hopes it will mysteriously make the person you are feeding do the same. That cracks me up.
This is how most of it went...In his mouth long enough for him to push it out with his tongue.
I'm pretty sure he liked the idea of eating like a "normal human" and no longer in a bottle like a "baby", but I'm not sure if he even swallowed any of it.
This was of course the final product! Since it was right before bed time I figured a bib was totally unnecessary. I think he had fun!!!

4 MONTHS

On Friday Camden turned 4 months old. I cannot believe it has been four months since we had him and over a year since we knew about him! Oh how fast life can change!!!

Speaking of change, Camden is changing by the second! Here are some of the things he is currently doing:

laughs out loud
holds onto a toy
reaches for things(ie: toys, bottle, moms hair and earrings)
follows objects with his eyes
while on his stomach he lifts his chest off the ground and holds himself with his arms
blows bubbles with his spit and tongue
likes to hear himself make noise
bears his weight when held in an upright position
he is trying so hard to sit up on his own, I'm thinking it won't be long before he masters it
I think he is starting to recognize his name and look in the direction that it is being called
Here he is in the doctors office, the "outer-space room". Today he got four shots in the legs and was such a trooper. He stopped crying as soon as the nurse put the band-aids on.
Here are his stats:
16.4 lbs
25.8 inches
and his head circumference is 16.8 in(phew he doesn't have a huge head)

He is just about the 80th percentile for both height and weight! The doctor said he isn't a moose yet, but is getting there soon!

Have I Been Here Before?

Seeing how I am the favorite granddaughter...whenever my Nanny and Papa are in town they come hang out with us for a bit. So tonight while visiting we went out for some Chinese food.

It's a good thing the food was good, cause their picture taking skills were not! This is the best one we got!
A few years ago when Nanny and Papa came to visit we ate at this same restaurant, but they didn't remember. I was trying to convince them that they remembered and point out little things that might spark a memory. So when we were sitting down getting ready to order, the little Chinese lady comes over to our table and Papa asks her, "Have I been here before?". He was acting so serious and the lady had no idea why he would ask HER that question. We were all just busting up! My Nanny said the woman probably thought he was an Alzheimer's patient that escaped. Good times!

One A Day Rule

I have this weird quirk(really I have tons, but we will just talk about this one) that I only like to use one burp cloth per day. There are days where a second one is necessary, but I try and keep it to a minimum in order to keep my laundry down for the maid(a.k.a me).

When I came home from work tonight I noticed that everywhere I went I was picking up used burp cloths. I could've sworn I put yesterdays in the dirty basket, but I have been wrong once before. The burp cloth picking up became ridiculous, and I was getting a bit frustrated thinking, where are all of these coming from? Soon enough I found the camera and was flipping through the pictures when I found this:
Dan must have taken this picture during the day! Please note all of the burp cloths surrounding Cam. He looks so cute with all that barf/slobber down the side of his shirt, and burp cloths galor! I was busting up! My favorite part of this picture is the burp cloth hanging off his foot!

I must not have shared the one burp cloth per day rule with Dan.

So Lucky!

I am so lucky to have these two boys in my life, they mean the world to me! Dan works super long hours and very hard at his job. Any day he gets off, I go to work, and he takes Camden. I feel so lucky that Camden doesn't have to go to a babysitter, but instead gets great "quality" time with his Mom and Dad. On the days I do go into work, I don't have to worry if Camden is getting enough love, or if he's being taken care of. What better hands to be in then your own Dad's. I will say...when I first went back to work I was a little hesitant, because a Dad just isn't a Mom(if that makes any sense). But Camden is such a happy boy on the days he spends with his Dad, and he is always in one piece when I get home. I love knowing that I have nothing to worry about! I also love that Dan has NEVER complained about having to "watch" Camden on his only days off. In fact, I think he cherishes those days when he gets to spend time with just him and his boy! I need to learn from him and not complain about me never getting a day off!

Camden has been teething lately and hasn't been the happiest camper! The other night when Dan got home from work I was a bit frazzled. Camden had been crying for the last few hours, didn't take an afternoon nap, and was naked because I had already changed his clothes four times that day and was done. I had him sitting in his boppy watching me clean out his drawers while he cried(I tried everything to console him, nothing worked, so I let him sit there and cry). Dan came up stairs and started loving on him and he immediately started laughing. Nobody can make him happier than his Dad.

Of course here is Chewie trying to get in on the action. Whenever Dan plays with Cam and makes him laugh, Chewie gets all worked up and wants to play!

What would I do without them? I am so lucky!!!

Zoo = Fun??????

Every time I go to the zoo, I remember why I don't go often! And next time I had better remember that it's even worse with a child. Especially a child that is too young to enjoy the fact that you paid $14.00 to get in and look at caged up, stinky animals. Oh well, at least we got some good exercise walking around for about 3 miles!
Note to self...don't go to the zoo in Arizona until December, it's too dang hot here! Camden was practically naked before we left cause he got too hot! His eyes in this picture are priceless! Do you think he was having any fun?
This is my favorite part of zoo day! Coming home, stripping down, and taking a nice LONG nap!

Remember My Name

So I've been tagged....never happened before...we'll see how this goes!

It is a requirement that you must post these rules before you give the facts.

1. You must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name.
2. If you don't have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have.
3. At the end of your post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag.

My middle name is KAY(phew...glad it's a short one, thanks Mom and Dad!)

K- Kitchen. I am a freak when it comes to cleaning my kitchen. I have to take everything out of it(including the table and chairs), put it in the living room, and then clean it from head to toe.
A- Ask a ton of questions! Dan gets so irritated with me because for some reason he thinks this gets old!
Y- Younger than Dan. I am 8 years younger than my husband, always have been and always will be. He must be really old!

Now for the fun part, I tag...
Tiffani
Leslie

Way Out West Oktoberfest

Oh yea Baby! We totally went to Oktoberfest and got wasted!!! Okay so maybe not wasted, but we had a blast. We chowed down on some Bratwurst with sauerkraut, and chocolate covered bananas.

We met the King and Queen of Oktoberfest...
Camden tried Dippin' Dots(note to self...he likes cookies and cream better than banana split)...
and took some fun pictures.

Ode to Oktoberfest...can't wait for the State Fair!

Trip to Utah

Just in case you have been wondering why I haven't posted anything in a while...wonder no more! Camden and I have been in Utah having a blast!

I got a call from my mom on Sunday saying Nanny and Papa had some vouchers for Southwest Airlines that they wanted to let me use. These vouchers were worth a certain amount of money and had to be used by a certain date, and they weren't using them. So me being their favorite granddaughter, got to reap the reward! Really it was probably for everyone to see Cam, but I'll pretend I don't know that. We made reservations that night, and left to Utah on Tuesday. Poor ol' Dan was left home all by his lonesome in order to pay the bills.

This picture is a little dark, but here we are getting ready to take off! I made friends with the lady across from me and asked her to take our picture.

Camden is no amateur at this whole flying thing! He was such a trooper and did great the entire trip there. He was so pleasant, and laughed almost the entire time. You will notice I dressed him appropriately for Arizona weather. But as we were landing the pilot welcomed us to Salt Lake City and warned us that it was 48 degrees outside. Oops! I felt a little neglectful. Good thing he had a blanket.

Later that afternoon we had to go buy Camden something warm to wear to my little sister's soccer game. Living in Arizona and Camden only being a few months old, we had to buy a completely new wardrobe for Utah weather. We were running late and the store we stopped at didn't have much to chose from. So Camden got a 6-9 month sweat outfit to go over his tank top. It looked a little goofy, but that was okay because we didn't get to stay long.

Carly got kicked in the eye and didn't get to play the rest of the game. The trainer there was afraid she had a concussion and needed to go to the hospital. So we got out of the cold and her the very best care at the very best hospital(my Mom and Dad's house).

Later that same night Camden got to meet his Great Grandpa(aka Papa) for the first time. He was screaming until we gave him to Papa and he just started hysterically laughing. I tried to capture it on camera, obviously it didn't work too well. But you can see his slobber infested tank top and hot looking sweat pants.

Mr. Owen and Mr. Mouse

Leslie drove up to spend the day with us, it was fun letting our boys hang out while we chatted!

The last time they saw each other, Camden wasn't much fun, all he did was sleep! This time was a little different. Owen was ready for a buddy to wrestle with and Camden was mesmerized with everything Owen could do.

Owen is calling Camden on at this point! Camden didn't know what to think, but he wasn't afraid!
Until now...there he goes...Owen pounced on Camden! Leslie and I were dying laughing! My poor child just wanted me to save him, and I was too busy taking pictures! Owen is such a little mover. He was on the go the entire time we were hanging out. It was so fun to see them, I can't believe how much he has grown in 2 months. Thanks for making the drive Leslie.

This same day I went to visit my friend Lauren. She is due with her second child in four weeks. The funniest thing happened while we were hanging out.

Lauren was in the kitchen making rolls for dinner(isn't she domestic). I had just finished feeding Camden and was sitting at the table when I noticed a mouse run under the pantry door. I panicked! I didn't want to make a big deal about it, but I wasn't gonna catch it, and Lauren was in the middle of kneading her dough! I jumped up on the kitchen chair and told Lauren I saw the sick thing. I was screaming, she had her hands full of dough, and she asked, What should I do? I told her to get a broom because that's what they do in the movies. Seeing how I was no help, she was totally pregnant, had dough all over her hands, I had another great idea. I told her to call her Dad! Dad's are supposed to know what to do about things like this! So she called him, he wasn't able to come over, but told her to roll up a towel and place it in front of the pantry and wait until her husband got home. Isn't he smart? Luckily her husband wasn't too long and came home with mouse traps in hand! I was so mad I forgot my camera. Maybe you had to be there to think it was that funny! Oh well!

Lauren has the cutest little boy ever! And since I forgot my camera when we saw the two of them, I thought I would post this picture of he and Camden last time we came home.

Isn't he a looker?

Nothing Better To Do

One of the nights in Utah, we had nothing better to do, so I shaved my little bro's head! Just kidding! It was crazy hair day at school and he came up with a brilliantly crazy idea to shave his initials in his hair. My mom so quickly volunteered to get Camden fed and ready for bed if I did the shaving.

Here she is doing her end of the bargain!

And here is my portion!
Aren't I talented???
Even if he doesn't win the craziest hair, I'm sure he'll win being the craziest! I love my family:)

Good Food, Good Friends, Good Times

When you're on vacation doesn't it feel like you are always eating? Well at least it does for me, and I love it way too much!

My sweet friends Tami and Chris are ready to delivery their first child any day now. My hope was to surprise them by showing up at the hospital once Tami delivered, but it didn't really look like that would happen while I was in town. I was calling her everyday to see how close she was getting to delivery without telling her I was right down the street from her. I couldn't lie any more, I broke down and told her I was in town. The next morning they picked me up and we went for an early lunch.

After lunch we went back to their house and hung out for a while. It was nice just to relax and chat it up!!!

Side note: I called Chris while I was typing up this post and he said they are in the hospital and Tami is dilated to a 9! Yippee!!!! I can't wait to see their baby girl!

Aren't they cute?! And doesn't she look great? The day we took this picture was her actual due date.

After leaving Tami and Chris' house Camden and I headed for Salt Lake. I met up with my good pals Heather and Brandi. The three of us used to work together and would often go out to eat at P.F. Chang's. Since then, we have all lived away from Utah at one time or another. Anytime one was in town, we would try to get together for some grub, most of the time at this same restaurant.
The two of them live in Utah now, I am hopeful I will complete this circle sooner than later. It was so fun to see them again. I am jealous they get to hang out, seeing how Brandi just moved back that same week.

Since we were already in Salt Lake, we decided to head down to Provo to visit Grandma Bonnie and Uncle David. Camden has been spitting up a ton lately. In order to keep him looking good for Grandma I made him wear an ugly bib around all day. Once we arrived in Provo I took off his bib and took him out of his car seat. Much to my surprise he had pee all the way up his back. So much for keeping his cute outfit clean for Grandma. Luckily I had an outfit in my bag to put him in, even though it was short sleeved and 50 something degrees outside.

We had so much fun visiting them, we are sad we live so far away!

This is one of my favorites! Both Cam and Uncle David's smiles are ginormous and super cute.
